Building upon the success seen by the company in recent years, the Texas based software provider closes on a major funding to create additional product offerings for its customers

Houston – June 14, 2021 — CloudNine, a leading provider of eDiscovery automation software that simplifying litigation, investigations, and audits today announced the closing of a major funding round led by Denver based private equity firm, Crest Rock Partners (“Crest Rock”). Terms of the transaction were not announced. Steve Johnson and Jeff Carnes, partners and co-founders of Crest Rock will join the CloudNine Board of Directors.

Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, CloudNine provides customers with a choice of cloud-based or on-premise based eDiscovery automation products that dramatically reduce the overall costs of eDiscovery. Law firms, government agencies, legal service providers and corporations can save time and money by consolidating all of their data collection, processing, and review requirements by leveraging CloudNine’s self-service eDiscovery software.

The investment comes at a time when businesses across the world, both large and small, are experiencing the fastest rate of information technology change in history. The company will use this capital to accelerate its ambition to deliver new product offerings that both simplify and bring more value to the eDiscovery process. The investment will fund the company’s plan to increase its headcount by more than 50 percent over the next three years.

“Since CloudNine’s inception, we have been helping businesses navigate the intricacies of eDiscovery technology. Within the last decade, the rapid addition of new communication mediums has made identifying, collecting and storing information in response to a request for production in a lawsuit or investigation more difficult than ever to capture and process. Corporations, law firms and other legal service providers need strong partners like CloudNine to automate the process in an easy and intuitive manner. This investment capital will enable us to increase our investment in additional product offerings, and allow both new and existing customers to rely on CloudNine to manage eDiscovery complexity,” said Tony Caputo, CEO of CloudNine.

“CloudNine has a culture that is deeply rooted in serving its customers through its world class products and support,” commented Steve Johnson, co-founder and Partner at Crest Rock. “We have followed CloudNine’s growing momentum over the last several years and jumped at the chance to make a growth investment into the business. CloudNine Launches Discovery Portal to Provide a Powerful Connector for Interoperability Across the eDiscovery Ecosystem

New platform enables seamless workflow between CloudNine technologies and integrated third-party providers

HOUSTON – May 4, 2021 – Today, eDiscovery technology leader CloudNine announced the release of Discovery Portal, a powerful new integration platform facilitating the interoperability of eDiscovery technologies across the EDRM spectrum. The CloudNine Discovery Portal provides a seamless connector between cloud and on-premise solutions, including CloudNine’s existing suite of eDiscovery software and third-party review products. The launch of Discovery Portal will empower legal and eDiscovery professionals to accelerate their discovery projects, safely and efficiently through a single, secure platform.

Integrations through Discovery Portal move data quickly and effectively across multiple platforms. Discovery Portal integrates on-premise CloudNine Explore™ to Relativity, enabling users to export data from Explore into Relativity automatically without manual exports and imports. Discovery Portal enables seamless transfer of clients’ native data to CloudNine Explore Cloud for processing, early case assessment (ECA), and loading to CloudNine Review™. Additionally, Discovery Portal enables transfers from CloudNine LAW™ to CloudNine Review, and from CloudNine Concordance® to CloudNine Review.

As a native file processing engine for ECA, Explore can process, search and filter data in place, without expansion and export data to Relativity via Discovery Portal. Since Explore’s data indexing mirrors the structure of Relativity’s destination folders, the data remains uniform and easy to find. As reported by many Explore customers, the efficiency and speed of the software provides significant cost and time savings over their previous processing resource by omitting irrelevant data production or running risks of producing privileged data.

“Explore’s data processing is faster and less expensive than other solutions and now, with the Discovery Portal integration, we can export seamlessly and directly from Explore to Relativity with unprecedented efficiency,” remarked Tony DeVito, Sr. Project Manager, eDiscovery at IST Management Services, an eDiscovery and litigation support services company managing large litigation matters for law firms and corporate legal departments. “In just our first few weeks using the Explore/Relativity integrated solution with Discovery Portal, IST has processed several million documents faster, more accurately, and at a lower cost. Collaborating with CloudNine on this project has been a great experience. The CloudNine team is refreshingly responsive, receptive and confident. They listen to our requests and do not stop until they produce the results we need.”

Discovery Portal also allows users to transfer exports from CloudNine LAW processing, imaging and production software to CloudNine Review with a few clicks. Users can transfer their processed, exported data or transfer an export based on a filtered set of documents responsive to a search. Discovery Portal reduces steps and manual hand-offs when advancing responsive data from LAW to CloudNine Review.

Discovery Portal also provides capability to advance data from CloudNine Concordance to CloudNine Review. Concordance is a great tool for reviewing and producing documents. However, if a case requires access by several external parties or otherwise exceeds Concordance’s capacity, Discovery Portal offers a pathway to transfer a Concordance export to CloudNine Review. Then, the data will be available to any authorized user with an internet connection.

“Discovery Portal is a substantial breakthrough which will have a direct, positive impact on our clients who move data between technologies,” said Jacob Hesse, VP of Product at CloudNine. “Our development team has done amazing work to increase the speed, accuracy and performance of Discovery Portal and our products like CloudNine’s Explore, LAW, Concordance and Review. Discovery Portal will create tremendous time and cost savings for our clients and partners.”

Improve Project Performance with New CloudNine Data Wrangler

CloudNine Launches Data Wrangler for Advanced Inventory and Prioritization of Collected Data to Improve Project Performance

Purpose-built for eDiscovery Professionals, Data Wrangler Delivers Actionable Insight into Staged Data, Reduces Data Transfer Volumes and Accelerates Project Timelines

HOUSTON – May 5, 2020 – Today, eDiscovery technology company CloudNine launches CloudNine Data Wrangler™ (“Data Wrangler”), a new software solution to inventory and prioritize collected data for enhanced processing decisions and throughput. Data Wrangler is a small footprint, on-premise application revealing detailed, actionable insight on PSTs, forensic images, directories, filetypes and data sizes. The software promises to shorten project delivery time by reducing and prioritizing data transferred to processing engines and review platforms.

To prevent workflow interruption and expedite processing, Data Wrangler will quickly detect and automate the repair of corrupt containers, split large PSTs into smaller, manageable sizes and create new PSTs without Microsoft® Outlook dependencies.

CloudNine customer, Robert Conley, VP Forensics and Strategic Operations with Rational Enterprise said, “The Rational eDiscovery team has had the privilege of previewing the Data Wrangler application and we look forward to using it to enhance our service. With a fast and complete inventory of collected data, we will be able to quickly promote the most time sensitive mailboxes and folders to processing and review. We have already identified a set of projects and clients who will benefit by adding Data Wrangler to the Rational eDiscovery workflow.”

Easy to integrate into existing eDiscovery workflows, Data Wrangler can automatically transfer selected data to CloudNine Explore™ for early case assessment and CloudNine LAW™ for data processing and production. Inherently flexible and technology-agnostic, Data Wrangler also exports results for processing in many other platforms.

Data Wrangler is the second new product CloudNine has launched in 2020. In January, the company introduced CloudNine Collection Manager™, a breakthrough data extraction solution to defensibly perform native data collections from Office 365 (O365) mailboxes and Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage files.

“This has been a pivotal year for CloudNine innovation,” said  Tony Caputo, CEO of CloudNine. “After the successful release of Collection Manager, we are proud to launch Data Wrangler which adds a new dimension to the eDiscovery process. Data Wrangler provides more intelligence to inform the preprocessing stage, optimize downstream workflows, reduce spend and produce better results.”

Jared Greene, Product Owner at CloudNine, remarked, “Collected discovery data can be challenging because when it arrives it’s essentially dark-data. CloudNine’s development team designed Data Wrangler specifically to provide deep, actionable insight into staged data.”

Data Wrangler can be purchased either bundled with other CloudNine products or as a standalone solution. For more information about CloudNine Data Wrangler or to request a demo, visit: https://cloudnine.com/ediscovery-software/cloudnine-data-wrangler/.
